On Nov. 15, 2017 at approximately 8:45 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Mapleton Fire and Rescue responded to a two vehicle collision at County Road 12 and County Road 7, Township of Mapleton.

A fuel truck travelling eastbound on County 7 was hit by a stake truck which had been travelling southbound on County 12 resulting in the fuel truck ending up on its side.

The driver of the fuel truck was transported by Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

County Road 7 is currently closed between Alma and Rothsay. County 12 is closed between 12th Line and 14th Line Township of Mapleton. This closure is expected to be in effect until approximately 7 p.m. today.

A minor fuel leak occurred to the fuel truck which was quickly fixed. The company has a second fuel truck on route to pump the fuel from the damaged truck at which point a heavy tow will be able to remove the damaged vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
