Guelph driver facing impaired charge

Police stopped the vehicle just east of Guelph after receiving calls reporting the vehicle 'driving erratically'

On Oct. 25, 2020 at approximately 6 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver on Eastview Road near Jones Baseline east of Guelph. 

It was reported that a black passenger vehicle was observed by witnesses driving erratically in the area prior to police arrival.

Police spoke with the driver and determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by drug and they were place under arrest. The driver was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Taylor Richardson, 31 years old, of Guelph has been charged with;

  • Impaired operation by alcohol or drug
  • Impaired operation over 80
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Driving a motor vehicle with open container of liquor

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Nov. 20, 2020.
