Guelph man accused of assaulting police officer

On Aug. 17, 2018 at approximately 8:15 a.m., Guelph Police observed a male that was known to be wanted. Police approached the male, who then fled the area on foot. After a short foot pursuit, the male was arrested. During the arrest, the male (allegedly) elbowed and punched the officer several times in the face. Officers were able to control the male and arrest the male without further incident. The officer received medical attention at the Guelph General Hospital as a result of trying to effect the arrest.

Brandon Clarke, a 28-year-old Guelph male, was charged with assault cause bodily harm, assault with intent to resist arrest, breaching his probation order, as well as breaching his recognizance. Clarke was wanted for breaching his recognizance as well as two counts of breaching his probation.

Clarke appeared in court on Aug. 18, 2018.
