In December of 2015, the Guelph Police Fraud Unit received a complaint regarding a theft by Power of Attorney.
Investigation alleges that an 88-year-old woman had her entire life savings stolen by her son.
He was her Power of Attorney for both personal care and financials.
It was determined that she had been defrauded over $62,000.
Frank Ditzend, 63 years, of Kitchener, has been charged with fraud over $5,000, criminal breach of trust and theft by person holding POA.
He will appear in court on August 2, 2016.
