Guelph man accused of brandishing knife, threatening victim

On Aug 5, 2020, Police attended to an address on Willow Road located in the city of Guelph in response to two males fighting. Throughout the altercation [it is alleged that] one of the males brandished a knife and threatened the victim with it. Police arrived on scene and arrested a 38-year-old Guelph male for assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Upon completing a search incident to arrest, Police also located a pair of martial arts weapons, commonly called a Sai, in his backpack that was located on his person. The accused was further charged with fail to comply with judicial release order for breaching the following condition: do not possess any weapons as defined by the criminal code.

The accused was transported to the Guelph Police Service and later released on an Undertaking. He is expected to appear in court on Oct. 19, 2020 at 9 a.m.
