Guelph man accused of returning to the scene of the crime

When Police attempted to arrest the accused, he allegedly tried to escape

On Nov. 19, 2018, a male attended to a store on Woodlawn Road and was observed on video surveillance stealing over $100 worth of merchandise and leaving the store.

Later in the day, the male returned to the store and was recognized by store employees and police were contacted. Police arrived at the store and when they attempted to arrest the male, he attempted to run away. The male was arrested in the store with more than $40 of different merchandise on him.

As a result, Nathan Heinze, a 23-year-old Guelph male was charged with theft under $5,000, attempt theft under $5,000, escape lawful custody, and possession of a controlled substance (believed to be crystal meth).

Heinze is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 8, 2019.
