Guelph man charged with impaired after moped hits ditch

On June 6, 2019, at approximately 4:15 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision on Wellington Road 38 near the City of Guelph. Initial reports indicated that an operator of a moped had lost control, entered the ditch and suffered minor injuries.

OPP responded and while speaking with the driver formed the opinion that the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to a local hospital. The driver underwent further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Mark Kenneth Leavoy, 63-years-old of Guelph has been charged with impaired operation and impaired operation - 80 plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood). A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 9, 2019.
