A Guelph man has been arrested in connection with a string of smash and grab-type burglaries at south end businesses, reports Guelph police.

During the first incident, a crowbar was used to force open a rear door of a business on Edinburgh Road South Sept. 4. A small amount of cash was stolen.

The other five incidents, reported between Sept. 29 and Oct. 8, all involved south end businesses being entered after their glass front doors were smashed. Small quantities of cash were reported stolen.

On Monday, just before noon, Guelph police executed a search warrant at an address on College Avenue West and arrested a male. Clothing similar to that observed on surveillance video from the six incidents was recovered.

A 50-year-old Guelph man is charged with six counts of break and enter and one count of possessing break and enter instruments. He was held for a bail hearing Tuesday.
