NEWS RELEASE

GUELPH POLICE SERVICE

************************
Late in the evening on June 7, a male entered a downtown establishment and consumed some alcoholic beverages. Before he paid for his drinks, (it is alleged) he appeared to develop some medical distress and an ambulance was called to assist him. Police were also called when it was learned that this same situation (allegedly) occurred earlier in the evening with the same male at another downtown establishment.

EMS personnel determined that the male was not intoxicated or suffering from any medical condition. It is alleged that the male feigned illness to avoid paying his bill.

[Charge withdrawn], a 39-year-old Guelph man, was charged with fraudulently obtaining food and released to appear before the court at a later date.
