The Guelph Police Association (GPA) is pleased to announce the organization has donated $1,500 to both the Guelph Food Bank and the Drop-in Centre.
“In most years we see people struggling during the holidays, but this year has been especially hard for many in our community,” said GPA President Matt Jotham. “We wanted to contribute to a couple of important organizations that will help those that are experiencing food insecurity or don’t always have a place to stay.”
Throughout this pandemic the Guelph Police Association has joined many other municipal police associations across Ontario with donations to various community resources including food banks, health care settings, shelters, group homes, and more.
“As the organization that represents front-line police officers and civilian personnel in Guelph, we wanted to do more for our city, in particular the many charities that rely on donations that help the most vulnerable in the community,” continued President Jotham. “Many of these charities are also experiencing financial shortfalls, and we hope others will consider (if they are able) donating or volunteering so that those who don’t have home, jobs or enough food to feed their families can have a hot meal or place to stay at Christmas.”
The Guelph Police Association – representing almost 220 police and 90 civilian members of the Guelph Police Service – works to ensure fair treatment of our members, the provision of a safe and healthy work environment in our perilous profession, and, through the volunteer hours contributed by our members to a wide range of causes, contributes to building our community.
