NEWS RELEASE
GUELPH POLICE SERVICE
*************************
As the Guelph Police Service announced earlier, additional resources have been committed to today and are deployed throughout the City of Guelph.

During the time period of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Guelph Police Service and City Of Guelph Bylaw Compliance and Enforcement have attended to over 106 calls for service. This represents more than one new call for service every four minutes, and includes both incidents attributed to today’s events and incidents attended by our Neighbourhood Services patrol.

These calls for service include at least 28 noise complaints and 15 incidents involving open liquor outdoors, resulting in numerous fines for those hosting gatherings, attending gatherings, and consuming alcohol outside private residences and licensed establishments.

We would like to encourage everyone in our city to act as a responsible and respectful citizen, and to please ensure that they are adhering to both the Liquor Licence Act and recommendations from Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health, including avoiding large gatherings. Please be mindful of today’s increased enforcement when deciding to host or attend a gathering.

Please contact the Guelph Police Service at 519-824-1212 ext. 0 with any reports of nuisance parties, noise complaints, open alcohol and any other ongoing issues that require police assistance.

The Guelph Police Service is dedicated to ensuring the safety of our community and our citizens.
