Guelph police responded to just one call Wednesday related to the launch of Ontario’s requirement for proof of COVID-19 vaccination to access some indoor spaces.

Approximately 11:15 a.m., staff of a restaurant on Stone Road West called to report a male was refusing to show proof of vaccination and refusing to leave. Police arrived a short time later to learn the male had since left the restaurant and staff did not wish to provide further information.

Beginning Wednesday, people are required to show proof of vaccination as well as government-issued identification to access thousands of non-essential venues including restaurants, bars, sports venues, gyms and theatres.

Those who fail to comply may be removed from the premises under the Trespass to Property Act.
