Bring them home

The Guelph Police continue to take a proactive role in human trafficking and recently conducted a one night operation which was named “Bring them home”.

It focused on identifying vulnerable women involved in the sex trade and it took place during the week of October 12, 2016.

This operation was conducted by an experienced team of officers from three separate Guelph Police work units, including Sexual Assault and Child Abuse, Neighbourhood Services Patrol and Victim Services Wellington.

As a result, the team went to several local hotels and motels and identified five females who were working in the sex trade.

They were between the ages of 18-25 but none were from Guelph.

The females were provided with contact information and links to community resources and outreach programs that would assist them in a making better lifestyle choices and were provided products to assist them in their day to day lives.

There were no criminal charges laid.

The Guelph Police Service asks that if you or anyone you know is believed to be involved in the sex trade and needs assistance to please contact the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit.

This project was made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community of Safety and Correctional Services.
