Guelph senior charged in crash that killed Fergus man

GUELPH/ERAMOSA – An 80-year-old woman has been charged for allegedly killing a motorcycle driver in a Highway 6 collision that happened in the fall.

On Sept. 20 at approximately 8:45 p.m., officers responded to a serious collision at Highway 6 and Wellington Road 38 north of Guelph between a sedan and motorcycle. 

The operator of the motorcycle Brian Jolley, a 47-year-old who lived in Fergus, was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the sedan was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

As a result of the investigation, police announced on Monday an 80-year-old Guelph woman is being charged with careless driving causing death contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. 

The defendant is scheduled to appear before the provincial offences court in Guelph at a later date.
