Hamilton driver accused of leaving crash scene near Eden Mills

The 22-year-old faces impaired driving, dangerous operation charges

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA – On April 14, 2021, at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Guelph Eramosa Fire Department responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Wellington Road 29 at Highway 7 north of Eden Mills.  

One of the individuals involved in the collision left the scene prior to police arrival. Thanks to tips from members of the public, officers located the missing party.

Sandor Kalanyos, 22-years-old from Hamilton has been charged with; 

  • Impaired operation - alcohol or drugs 
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle 
  • Failure to stop at scene of accident

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. 

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on May 4, 2021 to answer to the charges.

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.
