Assault with a hammer - arrest

On December 22, 2016 the Guelph Police investigated an assault complaint at an Alice Street residence.

The male victim had gone to this residence to do a check on the property for the landlord. He located two males banging on the back door with a hammer and other tools.

A physical altercation ensued when one of the males began swinging the hammer at the victim.

The victim was able to avoid being struck and removed the hammer from the male’s possession. This male then left the area and walked to the police station where he was arrested.

The victim did not sustain any injuries.

The 28-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with assault with a weapon and weapons dangerous.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on December 23, 2016.
