Head-on collision leads to impaired driving charges

On Dec. 8, 2019 at 8:32 p.m., members of the Guelph Police Service were dispatched to a head-on motor vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of Victoria Road North and Speedvale Avenue East in the City of Guelph. A white Honda Element had been travelling north on Victoria Road North in the centre lane and had stopped at a red light at Speedvale Avenue East. When the traffic light turned green it proceeded north through the intersection, then crossed over the centre line into the southbound oncoming lane of traffic, striking another vehicle.

Police arrived at the scene and subsequently arrested the driver of the Honda Element.

A 39-year-old Guelph female has been charged with:
    •    Impaired operation of a conveyance - alcohol
    •    Operate conveyance 80 mgs or above - alcohol

She will appear in court on Dec. 27, 2019.

Please note there were no reported injuries.
