A Guelph man was arrested early Friday after a resident confronted someone trying to break into his house.

Approximately 3:30 a.m. a resident near York Road and Brockville Avenue heard a noise near his front door. He opened the door and saw a man standing on his porch. The resident immediately closed the door and the man began kicking it. He fled when the resident said he was calling police.

Officers located a man a short distance away and placed him under arrest. A 27 year old is charged with break and enter, trespassing near a dwelling and breaching probation. He was held for a bail hearing Friday.
