Hospital patient charged after allegedly trashing washroom

An Ottawa female faces a mischief charge in Guelph after causing significant damage to a washroom at Guelph General Hospital Tuesday.

About 10:15 a.m. staff from the hospital called police. A security guard had escorted the female, who is a patient at the hospital, to a washroom. While waiting for the female to come out, the security guard heard smashing sounds coming from the washroom and summoned a nurse for assistance.

When the door was opened staff discovered the female had torn down several ceiling tiles and damaged the ceiling tile support system. No damage estimate was provided.

A 29-year-old Ottawa female is charged with mischief under $5,000.
