Burn-out complaint leads to impaired charge

WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP - On Feb. 26, 2017 at approximately 3:30 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint involving a vehicle doing burn-outs on Wellington Road 109 near the East-West Luther Townline in Wellington North Township.

Officers located the 2010 Ford involved in the complaint and while speaking with the driver, police detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. 

A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The male driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

22-year-old Peter Boese of Mapleton Township has been charged with Care and Control Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Apr. 4, 2017 to answer to his charge.

 His driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
