Harriston traffic stop results in impaired driving charges

TOWN OF MINTO - On Dec. 1, 2017 at approximately 7:30 p.m., a Wellington County officer stopped a motor vehicle on Robertson Street, Town of Harriston.

While speaking with the driver, the officer believed him to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to a local detachment for testing.

Twenty-four-year-old William Johnston of Wellington North Township has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court Jan. 2, 2018 to answer to the charge.

He also received a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
