Two area drivers face impaired driving charges

A driver from Guelph and one from Fergus lost their drivers' licenses 90 days and vehicles for seven days

CITY OF GUELPH - On Friday, June 29, 2018 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) Check on the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph. At approximately 1:30 a.m. the driver of a grey sedan entered the R.I.D.E. check.

While speaking with the male driver, officers formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside Screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

29-year-old Micheal Phillip Nakogee of Guelph has been charged with Driving with Over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on July 27, 2018.

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Saturday June 30, 2018 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 18, east of Fergus. At approximately 7:30 p.m. officers stopped the driver of a black pickup truck.

While speaking with the male driver, officers formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside Screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

30-year-old Androw Manuel Reis Leite of Fergus has been charged with Impaired Driving and with Driving with Over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on July 24, 2018.
