Kitchener man evades police four-and-a-half hours before capture

Suspect fled on foot after police responded to call of vehicle appearing to case residences

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA - On Nov. 15, 2019 at approximately 9 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from an alert citizen reporting a suspicious vehicle in the area of the Fourth Line that appeared to be casing residences.

When police arrived at the scene the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the bush.

Uniform officers set up containment of the area while the Wellington County OPP Canine Unit and the Emergency Response Team Unit, along with OPP Aviation services and the Guelph Police Services Canine Unit conducted a track. Following a lengthy 4.5 hours search, the suspect was located and taken into custody without incident.

A 38-year-old Kitchener resident faces numerous charges and has been held for a bail hearing.
