TOWNSHIP OF NICHOL - On Apr. 15, 2017 at approximately 1:40 a.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 between Sideroad 15 and Sideroad 18 in the Township of Nichol. 

The officer observed a male driving a 2017 Subaru travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 135 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

20-year-old Thomas Horvath of Blandford-Blenheim Township has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on May 17, 2017.

His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

CITY OF GUELPH - On Apr. 16, 2017 at approximately 1:40 a.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Laird Road in the City of Guelph. 

The officer observed a male driving a Land Rover travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 133 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

19-year-old Walsham Owen of Brantford has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Jun. 7, 2017.

His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
