On July 17, 2022, at approximately 5 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a swimmer in distress off the main beach at the Guelph Lake Conservation Area.
The Wellington County OPP, the Guelph Fire Department, the Grand Valley Fire Department, OPP Aviation Services, and the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) are assisting with the search.
The main beach at the Guelph Lake Conservation Area will be closed until further notice. The public is being asked to avoid the area.
