A Hamilton male was arrested twice in Guelph this weekend after reported break and enter attempts.

Just after 5 p.m. Sunday, Guelph police were called to a townhouse complex on Silvercreek Parkway North where several callers reported a male with a crowbar allegedly trying to break into units. Officers arrived and noted fresh pry marks on the doors of three units.

The male was located and was found to be agitated and would not comply with officers’ commands. While officers attempted to restrain him the male continued to resist by twisting and pulling away. During the struggle one officer sustained a superficial 15-cm cut and minor bruising on his arm. He did not required medical attention.

A 20-year-old Hamilton male was charged with assault with intent to resist arrest, possessing break and enter tools and three counts of break and enter. He was held in custody for a bail hearing and released on Monday morning with a court date in November.

Several hours after being granted bail, the same male was rearrested after police were called for a break and enter in progress in the area of Fountain Street West and Bristol Street. Officers arrived to find the male in front of the home and noted the screen door and frame had been broken.

The male was arrested for attempt break and enter and held for another bail hearing Tuesday.
