Male charged with impaired during traffic stop

On Saturday Dec. 1, 2018 at approximately 2:30 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to several reports of a vehicle being operated in an aggressive, erratic, unsafe manner on Wellington Road 7 outside of Elora.

Officers located the white pick-up truck travelling southbound on Wellington Road 7 near Side Road 4 and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the male driver, officers formed the opinion that his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and he was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.  

22-year-old Cody O'Neill of West Grey Township has been charged with Driving with Over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood and Impaired Driving contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on January 4, 2019.
