MINTO - On Saturday, March 17 2018 at approximately 10 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to an injured person call near George Street South, Harriston. Initial reports indicated that a male had fallen from the tail gate of a moving pickup truck at the Harriston Arena.
OPP, Guelph-Wellington Paramedics Service and Minto Fire responded and the male was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Twenty-two-year-old Derril Cecil James Hoover of Harriston succumbed to injuries and was pronounced dead at hospital.
OPP Technical Collision Investigation members have been called into assist with the investigation and charges may be pending. OPP can confirm that the driver of the pickup truck was not under the influence of alcohol.
