Man accused of abusing a dog that was not his

On April 11, 2018 at approximately 5:15 p.m., Guelph police received multiple calls from concerned citizens about a male on train tracks behind city hall that was abusing a dog. Police attended and located a male and small dog in the area of Northumberland Street.

As a result of the subsequent investigation, Anthony Cudney, a 39-year-old Guelph man, was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals. Investigation revealed the male was not the owner of the dog. The dog was returned to the rightful owner by police.

The male was given a May 29, 2018 court date.
