A Guelph male faces assault and breach charges after someone swung a hockey stick Monday at staff of a downtown business.

Approximately 1:40 p.m. a male entered a downtown business contrary to several court orders requiring him to stay away and was approached by a staff member who reminded him he was not allowed to be there. The male began swinging a hockey stick over his head then pointed it at the employee, causing him to fear for his safety.

The male fled on foot, but was arrested after returning to the same business again several hours later.

A 24-year-old Guelph male is charged with assault with a weapon, two counts of failing to comply with release conditions and two counts of failing to comply with probation. He will appear in a Guelph court Dec. 6.
