Man arrested after propane tank used to smash window of business

A Guelph man faces several charges after he was arrested Wednesday evening in relation to recent break-ins at two downtown businesses.

Approximately 5:40 a.m. Wednesday, several witnesses called police to report a break and enter in progress at a business in the area of Carden Street and Wyndham Street North. A male used a propane tank to smash the front window and fled on foot with a number of items.

The man believed to be responsible was located downtown approximately 9:30 p.m. and arrested, report police Further investigation alleges the man had also been involved in a break and enter Monday morning at a business in the area of Farquhar Street and Neeve Street during which clothing was stolen.

A 26-year-old Guelph man faces charges including break and enter and possessing stolen property. He was held to appear in bail court Thursday morning.
