Guelph Police arrested a 31-year-old Guelph man Wednesday after a female pedestrian says she was followed and scared by the man in Downtown Guelph.

Police report that at 11:30 p.m. the woman was walking in the downtown core when a man began watching her. He started to follow her and then quickly moved toward her in an aggressive manner. The woman moved behind a parked car to create space and the male moved in a direction to cut her off and prevent her escape.

The female then ran away and called the Guelph Police Service for assistance.

At 11:34 p.m., police located the male and he was subsequently arrested.

The man was charged with criminal harassment and three counts of fail to comply with probation order.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing Thursday.
