Man arrested for second-degree murder faces more charges

A Guelph man already in jail facing a second-degree murder charge in relation to a July homicide is now also charged with attempted murder in connection with an earlier, unrelated investigation, Guelph police report.

James Dobbs is charged in relation to an assault in May at a residential building in the downtown area. An adult male victim was severely injured and left with permanent physical damage.

Dobbs has been in custody since his arrest July 13 after human remains were found behind a business near Wellington Street/Gordon Street. He has now also been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

His next court appearance is Oct. 14.
