A Guelph man was arrested Monday after donations were stolen from a church.

Guelph police officers were called Monday to the church in the area of Alice Street and Huron Street. A staff member reported approximately $1,500 in cash and cheques were stolen following a service on June 19. Staff learned of the theft after officials with a local bank called to confirm details of a cheque a man was attempting to cash.

Investigation led to the arrest Monday of a 36-year-old Guelph man, who is charged with fraud under $5,000.
