A Guelph male faces weapons charges after pulling a knife when he was caught trying car doors Sunday evening.
Guelph police were called about 9:15 p.m. to a disturbance in a parking lot on Westwood Road. The owner of a motor vehicle saw a male trying to open his car door and went to confront him. The male pulled out a hunting-style knife and lunged at the victim before running away. There were no injuries reported.
Police arrived minutes later and were able to locate the male. The knife was recovered from his pocket.
A 49-year-old Guelph male is charged with assault with a weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He will appear in a Guelph court July 27.
