Man charged after attempting to sell stolen crossbow in Mount Forest: OPP

TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH - On May 19, 2020, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged an individual involved in an April 11, 2020 break and enter that occurred in Southgate Township. Information was received that the break and enter suspect was attempting to sell the stolen property including a crossbow in the Town of Mount Forest.

As a result, Gordon William Kostal, 38 years old of Wellington North Township, has been charged with possession of a property obtained by under $5,000 x2, trafficking in stolen goods under $5,000, failure to comply with release order, and fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Police have recovered some of the stolen property, however, some of the items including firearms remain outstanding.
