Man charged after drive ends up in sand trap

FERGUS – Wellington County OPP have arrested a Guelph man after a van was driven into a sand trap on a golf course Thursday night.

OPP West Region says that the abandoned mini van ended up in the golf course bunker at the Fergus Golf Club on Wellington County Road 19 at around 7 p.m. Thursday night.

The alleged driver of the van apparently fled the scene. A man was later located by the OPP K9 unit in a corn field nearby.

A 27-year-old Guelph resident has been charged with dangerous driving and fail to remain.
