WELLINGTON - On July 30, 2017 at approximately 2 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an assault that had just occurred in Fergus near St. Andrews Street West.
Investigation revealed that two men had consumed some drinks together at a local restaurant then left the establishment. The victim started walking away when the accused called him back.
When the victim came back to speak with the accused, the accused is alleged to have immediately punched him in the face causing him to fall to the ground at which point the accused continued to hit the victim.
The victim was treated for injuries.
26-year-old Christopher Stevenson of Fergus was arrested and charged with assault cause bodily harm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Sept. 8, 2017.
