A Guelph man faces several charges in connection with an incident earlier this month that saw a Guelph police cruiser rammed by a stolen vehicle.
Police report that on Jan. 7 they were called for a suspicious vehicle on William Street. As officers approached, the vehicle accelerated away at a high rate of speed. The driver cut across a lawn and through a garden before striking the front of the cruiser and speeding away at more than twice the posted speed limit through a residential area.
The stolen vehicle was later recovered in another jurisdiction.
On Tuesday a 28-year-old man was arrested in Downtown Guelph. Stolen identification was recovered during the arrest. He is charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, failing to stop at a collision, possessing stolen property over $5,000 and possessing stolen property under $5,000. He will appear in a Guelph court March 10.
