Just after 6 a.m. on Oct. 30, police stopped to investigate a man asleep and slumped over the driver’s wheel of a red Dodge Calibre on Algonquin Drive. The driver awoke and while the officer was speaking with him, a baggie containing (suspected) drugs was seen on the other front seat. This observation and the driver’s behaviour led the officer to believe that his ability to operate the motor vehicle was impaired by drugs. He was arrested and further investigation revealed that he was also prohibited from driving for a Criminal Code conviction and the plates on the vehicle were not registered to that vehicle.

The 26 year old Guelph man was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle - by drug, possession of a controlled substance (MDMA), drive disqualified and two counts of breach of probation. He was held in custody to appear in bail court.
