Assault with a weapon charge

WELLINGTON NORTH – On January 14, 2017 at approximately 6:15 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a neighbour dispute at a multi-unit townhouse complex on Tucker Street in Arthur, Wellington North Township.

Investigation revealed that the 40-year-old male victim was sitting in his screened-in porch area socializing with some friends and listening to music.  The accused, who resides next door to the victim, banged on the interior wall several times in regards to the noise.

The victim attended to the accused’s residence and after a brief conversation the victim was struck in the face with a sledgehammer.  911 was called by a witness and the male was transported to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment while the accused was taken into custody.

57-year-old Lawrence Johnson, of Arthur, has been charged with Assault with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code and was held for a Bail Hearing.
