Man wanted in connection with 2017 shooting arrested in Halifax

On Aug. 31, 2017 at approximately 12:30 a.m., Guelph police were called about an altercation involving a firearm. It is alleged that an altercation occurred in the parking lot of a north end motel. At one point in the altercation, it is alleged a male brandished a firearm and discharged it towards a vehicle that was fleeing.

A lengthy investigation ensued with the eventual identification of the male that is alleged to have discharged the firearm. A Canada-wide warrant was taken out for his arrest.

On Feb. 14, 2019, the accused was located in Halifax, N.S. He was transported to Guelph to answer to several charges. The following is a summary of the charges the 20-year-old Dartmouth, N.S. male is facing:
    •    Pointing a firearm (3 counts)
    •    Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
    •    Carrying a concealed weapon
    •    Possess a firearm without a licence
    •    Discharge a firearm with intent to injure (3 counts)
    •    Careless use of firearm
    •    Possess firearm in a motor vehicle
    •    Use firearm while committing an assault
    •    Assault with a weapon (3 counts)

The male was held for a bail hearing.

During the investigation, police were able to determine there is a second suspect involved.
