Over the dinner hour on May 5, the resident of a Willow Road address confronted a man with a BB rifle that he saw in his backyard. The resident ordered the man off the property and when he did not leave, the homeowner tackled the man and held him until police arrived. The resident was not hurt during the altercation.
Police arrested the man and when he was searched, he was found in to be in possession of a substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine.
The 39-year-old Guelph man was charged with weapons dangerous to the public peace and possession of a controlled substance. He was held to appear in bail court.
