Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a “person of interest” following Monday’s armed robbery of a gas station in the city’s south end.

Security camera images were released by police on Friday.

Police were called to the Esso gas station at the intersection of Edinburgh Road South and College Avenue West shortly 10 a.m. Investigation revealed a male entered the store, then left and returned a short time later. He approached the female clerk, removing a black handgun from his clothing and demanding cash, a news release explains.

The gun was not pointed and there were no physical injuries reported.

The suspect, described as a white man of average height and build, fled on foot with an undisclosed quantity of cash, though some was recovered nearby.

At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a royal blue hoodie, black track pants, a black balaclava, sunglasses and running shoes.

Investigators believe the suspect visited Stone Road Mall shortly before the robbery.
