On Tuesday, April 18, 2017 Guelph police were called to a Blair Drive address where there was a report of a vehicle that had been entered and items taken, including credit cards.

Theft and fraud arrest

On Tuesday, Apr. 18, 2017 Guelph police were called to a Blair Drive address where there was a report of a vehicle that had been entered and items taken, including credit cards. As a result of the investigation that followed, on Apr. 22 at 12:45 a.m., Blake Komarniski, a 33-year-old Guelph male, was arrested and charged with theft, possession of stolen property, fraud, two counts of unauthorized possession of a credit card, two counts of breaching an order of recognizance and one count of breaching a probation order. 

Robbery

On Saturday, Apr. 22, 2017 at 4:13 a.m. Guelph Police were called to a convenience store in the east end of the city, where there was a report of a robbery. Police were told a male entered the convenience store, threatened the clerk and fled with cash. Police were able to locate the responsible male and arrest him.  Martin Laraway, a 54-year-old Guelph male, was charged with robbery.

Break and enter investigations

On Apr. 22, 2017, the Guelph Police went to a commercial property on Edgehill Drive to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered sometime overnight and stole several items.

On Saturday, Apr. 22, 2017 at 9:52 p.m., Guelph police went to a residential property on Victoria Road North to investigate a break and enter.  It is alleged that, at some point during the day, culprit(s) entered the residence and stole prescription medication from the residence.

Assault arrest

On Saturday, April 22, 2017 Guelph police were called to a residence on College Avenue, where there was a report of a 67 year old female being assaulted.  Police arrived shortly after being called and arrested Ynonnia Mclean, a 29 year old Guelph woman, for assault.  The 67 year old did not require any medical assistance.

Disturbance call leads to arrest

On Saturday, Apr. 22, 2017 at 9:38 p.m. Guelph police were called to a disturbance at a convenience store on York Road. Police arrived on scene and spoke to one of the involved parties. As a result of this investigation, Grant Cadeau, a 28-year-old Guelph male, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of stolen property, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, one count of theft and three counts of breaching his probation order.

Fire at 62 Arthur Street South

The following media release is on behalf of the Guelph Fire Department:

On Apr. 23, 2017 at 6:40 a.m., the Guelph Fire Department responded to a reported fire at the above noted location. Units from Headquarters, Stations 2, 3, and 5 arrived at the scene and found smoke coming from the roof of a single family dwelling.

The fire was quickly brought under control and subsequently extinguished.

There were no injuries to occupants or fire personnel.

The cause of the fire along with an estimate of damage is still under investigation. Fire Prevention was contacted and is continuing with their investigation.
