Break and enters and a dumpster fire reported

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Superbowl Sunday RIDE Program
On Feb. 4, 2018, Guelph Police conducted a RIDE program between the hours of 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. The RIDE program resulted in approximately 500 vehicles stopped and not a single alcohol related charge was laid; only two breath demands were made to drivers and one charge with a drug related offence was made.

Break and enters
On Feb. 2, 2018, the Guelph Police attended a business located in the plaza at 328 Speedvale Ave. E., Guelph to investigate a break and enter. Product from the premise was taken.

On Feb. 3, 2018, the Guelph Police attended an address on Balmoral Drive investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) broke into a shed sometime overnight and stole yard equipment.

On Feb. 2, 2018, the Guelph Police attended a business located Dallan Drive to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) gained entry sometime overnight and removed AC units and furnaces.

Dumpster fire
On Feb. 5, at 2:15 a.m., the Guelph Police responded to a dumpster fire on Gordon Street. The Guelph Fire Department also responded. The fire was extinguished without incident and there were no injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

Calls for service
From Friday, Feb. 2, 2018 at 7 a.m. to Monday, Feb. 5, 2018 at 7 a.m., the Guelph Police Service dealt with 689 calls for service. Incidents involve everything from traffic stops and accidental 911 calls to domestics and break and enters.
