The Guelph Police are reporting a slower NYE than in previous years.

  • Calls for service between 10 p.m. Dec. 31, 2016 and 4 am Jan. 1, 2017 – 59 calls
  • 4 Public Intoxication arrests
  • 4 noise complaints

RIDE stats:

  • 480 vehicles stopped
  • 6 drivers tested
  • 1 Highway Traffic Act ticket issued  
  • A 34-year-old Guelph female driver was tested and subsequently arrested for Over 80 mgs. She will appear in court later in January.   

New Year’s Day collision investigated

On Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017 shortly after 8 p.m., a silver Chevrolet 4 door traveling north on Gordon Street near Poppy drive when it struck a blue Mazda 4 door head on, that was traveling in the opposite direction.

The drivers of both vehicles, as well as two passengers in the Mazda, were transported to Guelph General Hospital with minor injuries.

Both vehicles sustained severe damage, estimated at a total of $10,000.

The driver of the Chevrolet, an 18-year-old woman from Mississauga, was charged with Careless Driving, according to the Highway Traffic Act.
