Guelph Police were involved in 562 incidents over the weekend

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Compactor fire
On Jan. 19, 2019, the Guelph Police investigated a compactor fire behind a Silvercreek Parkway North business. Investigation determined that a female started the fire at 2:07 a.m. The fire was contained to the compactor and did not affect the building.

Stolen car
On Jan. 20, 2019, the Guelph Police received the report of a stolen motor vehicle. A 2008 white Honda Odyssey, licence plate # BSCL111 was taken from outside a Mohawk Drive residence sometime overnight.

Property damage
On Jan. 20, 2019 at 11:18 p.m., the Guelph Police investigated a smashed glass door to a bank on Wyndham Street North.

Hit and run
On Jan. 20, 2019, Guelph Police investigated a hit and run that occurred in the area of Eramosa Road and Delhi Street at approximately 12:20 p.m. A Red Top taxi cab had been struck at this location causing enough damage that it had to be towed. The responsible motor vehicle is described as possibly being a blue Toyota.

Theft from cars
Over the weekend the Guelph Police received seven reports of theft from cars. The locations were Macdonell Street, Southgate Drive, Westra Drive, Hearn Avenue, Carere Crescent and two on Campbell Road.

This crime is easily avoidable. Please lock your cars and do not leave and belongings visible. If you do become a victim of this crime you can report it through the Guelph Police online reporting portal.
