Impaired driving, wanted persons, over 80, break and enters, calls for service

The following are news releases issued by the Guelph Police Service:On Jan. 19, 2018 at 11:54 p.m., Guelph police were called to a collision at the intersection of Gordon Street and Clair Road. A vehicle had struck a light standard at that intersection. Police spoke to the driver involved, which resulted in him being arrested for impaired driving.

James Spencer, a 24-year-old Guelph male, was arrested and charged with impaired driving and over 80. He was given a Feb. 6, 2018 court date.

There were no injuries as a result of this collision and total damage is estimated to be $10,000.

On Jan. 20, 2018 at approximately 8:50 p.m., Guelph police were called to the area of Elizabeth Street and Huron Street, where there was a report of a dumpster fire. Police spoke to a female that was in the immediate area of the dumpster fire. The female was found to be wanted. A 30-year-old Guelph female was arrested and charged for failing to re-attend court. She was held for a bail hearing and released the next day.

At the time of her arrest, the accused female was found to have property on her person which caused police to initiate a separate investigation. As a result of this secondary investigation, on Jan. 21, 2018, the 30-year-old female was located, arrested and charged with possession of stolen property and breaching her probation order. She was held for a bail hearing.

On Jan. 20, 2018 at approximately 11:30 p.m., Guelph police received a call about a suspicious male on Delhi Street. This male was allegedly going on to private driveways and checking for unlocked vehicles. Police were able to locate and identify the male. William McBain, a 34-year-old Guelph male, was arrested and charged with breaching a condition of his Officer In Charge Undertaking. He was held for a bail hearing.

On Jan. 21, 2018 at 2:50 a.m., Guelph police were conducting routine patrol and stopped a vehicle in the area of Gordon Street and Kortright Road East. Police spoke to the driver and demanded a road side breath test, which the driver allegedly failed.

Jaleel Foster, a 26-year-old Markham male, was arrested and charged with over 80. He was given a Feb. 6, 2018 court date.

On Jan. 22, 2018 at approximately 1:20 a.m., Guelph police were called to a Westwood Road residence, where a male was refusing to leave. Police were able to locate the male and the subsequent investigation revealed that he was wanted. A 27-year-old Guelph male was arrested for the warrant, relevant to possession of stolen property and breaching his probation order and was further charged with breaching a condition of his order of recognizance. He was held for a bail hearing.

On Jan. 19, 2018, the Guelph Police went to a Liverpool Street address to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the back door overnight and ransacked a room.

On Jan. 20, 2018, the Guelph Police went to a Marilyn Drive residential building to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the laundry facility overnight.

On Jan. 20, 2018, the Guelph Police went to a Huron Street address to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the residence overnight. At this time, it is unknown what was taken.

On Jan. 21, 2018, the Guelph Police went to an Oxford Street address to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered a shed overnight and stole a bicycle.
