On July 8, 2016 at 10:52 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the Guelph General Hospital to assist with an intoxicated male and female causing issues. The 19-year-old Scarborough female was arrested for public intoxication.

Disturbance at hospital

On July 8, 2016 at 10:52 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the Guelph General Hospital to assist with an intoxicated male and female causing issues. The 19-year-old Scarborough female was arrested for public intoxication. While the female was being arrested the male proceeded to walk into the waiting room and started yelling and screaming. He was asked to leave but continued to yell outside in the parking lot. He was also arrested.

Aidan Dacosta, 22 years of Guelph has been charged with cause disturbance by shouting. He will appear in court on August 23, 2016.

Break and enter

On July 10, 2016 at 9:06 a.m., the Guelph Police went to an Applewood Crescent residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) smashed a window to gain entry. No theft has been reported.

Impaired driver arrested

On July 10, 2016 at 1:43 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Victoria Road North. The male driver was arrested for impaired driving but refused to provide breath samples.

Jacob Martin, 20 years of Guelph has been charged with impaired driving and refuse to provide breath sample. He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with novice driver –BAC above zero. He will appear in court on July 29, 2016.

Damage downtown

On July 11, 2016 at 2:20 a.m., the Guelph Police arrested a male after he used rocks to smash the window of a downtown business. The male received minor cuts to his hands and the estimated value of the window is $1,000.

Jeffrey McDonald, 23 years of Guelph has been charged with mischief under $5,000. He will appear in court on August 26, 2016.

Theft from cars

Over the weekend the Guelph Police received five reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Strathmere Place, Wyndham Street South, Kent Street, Popham Drive and Winston Crescent.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible. July 9 - In the area of Victoria Road and Hadati Road from 7:54 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. - 7 tickets issued.

July 10 - In the area of Victoria Road and Hadati Road from 12:15 p.m. - 1:05 p.m. - 3 tickets issued.
